Michael Milmoe Bio

Michael P. Milmoe is one of the nation's most experienced vaccine attorneys.  He practiced vaccine litigation with the Vaccine Litigation Section at the U.S. Department of Justice for 28 years.  Mr. Milmoe retired from Federal service in June 2017 after practicing law with the Department of Justice for 31 years.  He joined the Law Offices of Leah V. Durant, PLLC shortly thereafter.    

Mr. Milmoe joined the Department of Justice as an Honor Program attorney in 1986 and was the first attorney ever hired by the Department of Justice to litigate vaccine claims under the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program.  Mr. Milmoe tried the first vaccine case ever heard in the Vaccine Court in 1990, and has since tried approximately 200 cases.  He has personally handled many hundreds of Vaccine Program cases. 

During his tenure with the Department of Justice, Mr. Milmoe was named Senior Trial Counsel in the Vaccine Program in 1999.  In this supervisory role, he was responsible for litigation strategy in several thousand more vaccine claims.  From 1999-2017, he served as a supervisor, mentor, and reviewer of all of the vaccine attorneys employed by the Department of Justice.  There is no more experienced vaccine attorney in the country.   

Mr. Milmoe holds a B.A. degree from the University of Maryland, a J.D. degree from the University of Baltimore, and an LL.M. degree (Master of Laws) from Georgetown University Law Center.
